In Book One, Jerry and his friends reached their
destination, but things in the sleepy village of Zaharania were not what
they had expected. Now, scrambling to regroup, they prepare to embark
on a mission that cannot possibly succeed. Yet, the cost of failing in
Tellusia will mean an end to all life here in The Earthen Realm.
In
this second installment of the Tellusian saga, Parker touches on such
lofty themes as slavery and civil rights. Even younger readers are
likely to come away from this story with the idea that they must think
for themselves.
In this world, where Hollywood tells our children that
all villains must come to a violent and just end, it is refreshing to
find an author with the courage to offer young readers an “enlightened”
alternative.
